The origins of Pomezia
The origins of Pomezia (2002)
A graphic poem in octosyllabes composed and illustrated by Off
When Aeneas landed in Lazio
he was bored of traveling
and so happy about leaving the boat.
Climbing through the beach
he was soon scared
by the shocking painting
of a horrible smiling god
(“A concrete committment: customizing the penal laws”)
But the destiny was preparing
even worse - unfortunately - visions
that coast was gasping
covered by bricks
"Excuse me native” he asked
“Who is the author of such slaughter?”
The man answered “You are in Lazio”
“We’ve got an amnesty every month”
But an officer suddenly comes
who never read Virgilius
“You are a smuggler
and an illegal immigrant
let’s go back to Ilium!”
Then we lost the chance
of claiming a divine ancestor
Being an akward nation
was written in our destiny
